Back to the Keep

September 18, 1999:

Welcome to Fables, or welcome back.

Over the next few months, I'll be continuing to overhaul the site. Most of these changes will be invisible, part of an attempt to further (logically) break the site into subdirectories. I'll also be adding PDFs of various stories (all of them, eventually, but no promises about speed), since a computer screen is not always the optimal way to read.

I've (probably temporarily) removed Stephanie Dyrkacz Weidner's novel, Auch das Schöne. She's actively searching for a print publisher and agent, and I'll provide updates as they become available.

The Winter issue will be released on the solstice. (Yes, I realize I'm not the first person in history to use astronomical events to mark time, but it seems convenient and less boring than "the first of the month".) Unless I get completely overwhelmed with submissions (in which case a) I'll be happy and b) I'll announce how long we'll be closed to new submissions), Fables will have a rolling acceptance policy. An issue will "close" two weeks before publication (or sooner, if it fills up), and anything accepted after that point will appear in the next issue. (Exceptions will, of course, be made for seasonal pieces and the like.)

We're also going to start accepting oral submissions. Please check out the guidelines for more details.

Megan
