The Old Man and the Wolf
By
Stephen D. Rogers
An old man was walking down the street when a wolf ran up to him. "Quick,
hide me, the hunters are coming. I will repay your kindness."
Hoping only to spare a life, the old man emptied his bag and placed the wolf
inside, covering the animal gently with his belongings.
Presently the hunters approached. They wished the old man a good day and
continued their search.
Once they were gone from sight, the old man released the wolf.
The wolf bared his teeth. "Now that I am safe I shall eat you."
"But what of the kindness you promised?"
"Who are you to speak of kindness. I couldn't breath in your bag."
"Show me."
The wolf jumped into the bag and the old man closed the top.
